Australia's long awaited Anti Money Laundering and Counter Terrorist Financing Act 2006 was passed in December 2006. The Rules to be made by AusTrac wil be published soon. The Financial Crime Forum presents a first look at the new Act and how it will work. Can you still seek legal advice without fear of being reported for suspicion of laundering? What time lines will apply for implementation? What risks, commercial and management issues will those time lines create? And does the new law create opportunities for launderers? How should you respond to a police investigation? And what is the civil penalty regime and how will it work? These are mission-critical questions for all of those businesses that now fall under Australia's counter-money laundering laws, and for financial institutions outside Australia that deal with them for the approach in the new law creates opportunities for laundering which at first appear closed. Applying the Financial Crime Forum's policy of high value, low cost events, the Forum presents exceptional value for money and, for non-Sydney delegates an opportunity to visit one of the world's great cities.

Sydney at the end of summer. You can walk through the city's superb Victorian architecture, eat in Chinatown or in the Greek, Spanish and other districts, find the most interesting fusion food anywhere on earth and go down to Bondi where the surf's always up. Down by the harbour, there are ferries to give you a different perspective on the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House.
